Weekend and I Started my Leave

My last day of work finally has come.  Well not exactly last, last day of work.  Just the last day before I start my maternity leave.  Oh how I enjoy the idea of sleeping in until baby comes and spending alone time with Maksim.  Baby is now full term and can come any day.  It is just a waiting game now.

This weekend we got to do some pumpkin carving with the Randall's and enjoy their baby shower for their baby boy due December.

Cowboy themed birthday party for Maksim's buddy, Filip, on Sunday.  Maksim's first pony ride.

Surprise Baby Shower

When approached with the idea of doing a second baby shower I thought, nah.  I am having another boy and we really took care of our stuff so I really didn't need much.  You still need "new" stuff but not that huge list of things you needed the first time round.  My sister and I decided we would do a "spa day" to celebrate. Or at least that is what I thought.  This past weekend she invited me to her house to enjoy a casual BBQ to welcome home her bf's father home from a 6 month trip.  I didn't think anything of it.  We do family BBQs all the time.  Stan, Maksim and I were completely surprised to find she and her boyfriend's family threw us a mini baby shower.  The party had the cutest details because that is what my sister is all about (look at the diaper plane structure she created in the photos below).  She said that baby #2 had to have his own party as well and feel special. And special he did feel.  It was great to spend an evening enjoying amazing food and good company. A big thank you to everyone that came and especially to Jelena (the best Aunt ever, Maksim is wild about her) for organizing the best party ever.

Check out all the cute details at the bottom.  I especially loved the DIY onesies every made for the baby!

Pumpkin Slide

We got to visit a local pumpkin patch this past weekend.  Lets just say Maksim is not afraid of anything.  He went on a mini ferris wheel, train, and a giant slide that Mama personally felt he was too little for.  He proved me wrong and went up and down it several times all by himself.  The couple of face plants did make my heart stop.  Finally the San Diego weather is cooling down and its starting to feel like the fall.

The weekend was topped off by my sister throwing me a mini surprise baby shower.  I will be posting pictures from the super cute event next.

New Baby Boy Wishlist

New Baby Boy Wishlist

From the top (clockwise) - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7

I got all the necessities I need for our new baby boy that will be here in less than a month but these few items are just too cute.  I mean the v-neck onesie for one thing?  It's so Stan.  The camo and stripes very much a Mama thing.  We went through 2 Sophie the Giraffe teether toys with Maksim.  He loved that toy but happen to lose both of them.  I keep telling myself that Sophie just ran away.

If I had 6 pairs of legs.....

If I had 6 pairs of legs I'd wear all of these boots at the same time.  These are my fav boots for 2012-2013 winter season.  You see that I have a metal cap-toe obsession right?

All about Apples

This weekend was a fun and busy one. It started early by chance when we landed some cheap tickets to Disney on Ice. I first thought Maksim might be too young for it but he proved me wrong. He sat in his seat and watched Mickey and the gang skate around. No squirming or running off to my surprise. He loved every minute of it and we did have to battle him to get into the car when the show was done. He kept screaming Mickey!!! Friday night Stan and I celebrated our 10 year "real" wedding anniversary. You can read a little about it here. We ended up having a nice dinner at Searsucker, a trendy restaurant with a great atmosphere, in downtown.  The food was great, Stan had the flat iron steak while I got the scallops.

Sunday is when the weekend really peaked. It was all about apples. We headed out with the Randall family to enjoy a pumpkin patch (see pics on this post), bbq lunch, apple picking and apple pie (of course) in Julian. There really was no apples to pick but the kids had so much fun which made the experience so worth it. We know for next year we have to head out to the apple orchards when the season begins to really get the full experience.
The only way we actually were able to get some apples from trees.
Maksim let us know that that apples on the ground were a "mess."
Enjoying some fresh apple cider
Apple pie of course!
